J. Kevin Carmichael, MD, FIDSA
Dr. Carmichael has dedicated most of his career to caring for people with complex medical conditions. A board-certified family practitioner, he has been a direct care provider and prominent advocate for HIV/AIDS treatment and research nationally and within the Tucson community since 1990. After a successful 30 years as the Medical Director of Special Immunology Associates at El Rio Community Health Center, Dr. Carmichael retired in 2018. He joined Casa de la Luz as Associate Medical Director in 2019 to pursue his longtime interest in end-of-life care. Consistently named a “Top Doc” by Tucson Lifestyles magazine and frequent contributor to medical journals, Dr. Carmichael is recognized as a strong advocate for patients and families. He is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Medicine, completed a fellowship in Family Medicine at the University of Arizona and holds a Master’s degree in exercise physiology from Penn State.
