Free Screening of Being Mortal at Tucson’s The Loft

| By Jodi Horton

Being Mortal quickly became a must-read for a lot of healthcare professionals, especially those focused on end-of-life care and terminal illnesses. After the book’s publication, PBS Frontline created a documentary film with Dr. Atul Gawande, the book’s author, exploring the hopes of patients and families facing terminal illness and their relationships with the doctors, nurses, and family members who care for them.

Casa de la Luz Hospice is hosting a free screening of Being Mortal at The Loft Cinema, 3233 E. Speedway Blvd, on September 13 at 7:30 p.m. After the screening, we’ll have a short panel discussion with our local experts.

Featured panelists:

Dr. James Nicolai, Associate Medical Director for Casa de la Luz Hospice

Callene Bentoncoury, BSN, Administrator for Casa de la Luz Hospice

Dana Cooper, TV and radio host and sports marketing consultant who will share his personal hospice care experiences

Panel moderator:

Frank Williams, Director of Social Services for Casa de la Luz Hospice and Co-Chair for the End-of-Life Care Coalition

You are invited to join this screening and panel discussion for free and help us explore the topic of aging and end-of-life care in our community. The event is first come, first seated, and interested attendees are encouraged to arrive early.

If you have any questions about the event, you can call Casa de la Luz Hospice at (520) 544-9890.
